S. D. S. Yadava

S. D. S. Yadava (Shiv Dayal Singh Yadava, born 3 March 1927, Sadat Nagar, Haryana[1]) is an Indian army officer, retired in 1983[2] as a Major General, and author of the 2006 work Followers of Krishna: Yadavas of India.

Born to Captain Puran Singh (SB, OBI), Yadava studied at King Georges School in Ajmer before joining the Army in 1947.[1] During his Army career, Yadava served a period in the 3rd Gorkha Rifles. Yadava was also wounded in the Battle of Dhalai while serving as Brigade Commander, where it took two days to evacuate him from the battlefield.[3] Later, in the 1980s while serving as Commander 101 Area in Shillong, Yadava initiated a program to use Liquified Petroleum Gas as a cooking fuel for his command, in order to avoid both the expense and deforestation resulting from the use of firewood for cooking.[4]
