Presidential elections are to be held in Somalia after the Somali parliamentary election in 2016; originally, they were to be held on 30 November 2016, but were postponed.[1] Due to security concerns the election was delayed by a month, extending the expired tenure of president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.[2]
Electoral System
The president is elected by the Lower House and Upper House of the Somali parliament. The lower house members will be elected in the parliamentary election, where 14,025 clan representatives will cast their vote.[3]
