Sundari Soekotjo

Sundari Soekotjo, was an Indonesian legend kroncong singer. She has released many solo and collaboration albums for her kroncong career in local music industry. Soekotjo was often invited to performed in several countries, such as Singapore and Japan.

Currently, Soekotjo was working as lecturer in the Negeri Jakarta University, which is she studied.^[1]

Background

Soekotjo is a Javanese descent. She is an alumna of Negeri Jakarta Universty of music majors and Gajah Mada University of Master of Human Resource Management Department.

Early life

Sundari Untinasih Soekotjo was born on April 14, 1965, on Jakarta to parents Herini Soekotjo and Soekotjo Ronodihardjo. Soekotjo is an second child from three siblings. Soekotjo had studying to kroncong when her father introducing to the music. In addition, Soekotjo has singing to pop music with singer Joko Sutrisno in TVRI when she was 9, and has studied to kroncong singer from several music teacher. Since her primary school of SDN Halim, Soekotjo has joining the competition in 1975 as representation.

After three years later, Soekotjo has joining for several kroncong festival and came out as finalist, after she specializes in kroncong songs. A year later, Soekotjo also join to Radio Star Champion and TV event and came out as second winner for Female Adult Kroncong Singer category. However, Soekotjo widely criticized since discovered that she was a minor age, due to caught stealing of age 1 (minimum requirement is age of 15).

Career

In 1989, Soekotjo has singing for original soundtrack from film Semua Sayang Kamu, titled "Merindukan Mama", which written by Wachid Adjie.

Soekotjo has officially began her debut career for releasing the debut original kroncong album, titled Ingkar Janji by Gema Nada Pertiwi in 2002, which she was singing with kroncong. Bina Suci Foundation and Radio Republik Indonesia has awarding for Soekotjo as 2002 Kroncong Award for her best selling album in kroncong music. Still same of year, Soekotjo has special awarded by a board categorization at 2004 Anugerah Musik Indonesia Sharp Awards.

Soekotjo has appointed to performed in several songs, including "Bengawan Solo" of Japanese version from her album Album Emas Keroncong into commemorate 50 years of Indonesia-Japan friendly relations. In addition, Soekotjo has collaboration for working two duet albums, titled Gebyar Campursari (with Koko Thole and Tuti Maryati) and All New Keroncong Indonesia II (with Koko Thole and Waryoto 177).

In 2011, Soekotjo has awarded for Hadiah Seni Award by Indonesian Republic Government, coincide National Music Day Celebrations on March 23. Coincide to Kartini Day in 2016, Soekotjo had representing her grand concert, titled Senandung Keroncong Indonesia: Sundari Soekotjo 40 Tahun Berkarya for her journey career during 40 years and was held on Ciputra Artpreneur Theater in South Jakarta.^[2]

Personal life

She has married to a pilot Arman Surjadi and have birth a daughter, namely Intan Putri Permatasari (alias Intan Soekotjo), also kroncong singer. In 2004, Soekotjo has decided to divorced for her husband.
