The Almost Complete Collection of True Singapore Ghost Stories (also True Singapore Ghost Stories or TSGS) is one of the bestselling series in Singapore. With over a million copies sold, the series has become a household name since its inception in 1989. Russell Lee, the Singaporean author, compiles reports, stories and interviews about the supernatural. Light and entertaining, each book, which comprises about 50 stories, appeals to both children and mature readers.
Most of the stories take place in Asia but some take place in other parts of the world. Lee also includes articles about the paranormal, featuring detailed investigations into the occult, witchcraft, vampires and other similar topics. Lee stresses that the articles are for reading pleasure, not for research.
So far, 25 books have been released. Each book has a specific theme. Also, a specific artwork is shown in front of every book such as a werewolf.
Russell Lee's latest book is Book 24, which features a collection of stories, and an investigative section on the blood moon prophecy. Some of Japan's most terrifying urban legend creatures such as the Kuchisake-onna and the Aka Manto are also showcased in the book. The books can usually be found in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and some other neighboring countries.
