Ward No. 2, Kolkata Municipal Corporation is an administrative division of Kolkata Municipal Corporation in Borough No. 1, covering parts of Sinthee neighbourhood in north Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal. It forms a city municipal corporation council electoral constituency and is a part of Kashipur-Belgachhia (Vidhan Sabha constituency).[1]
Overview
The boundaries of the ward are as follows: Kalicharan Ghosh Road and Ramkrishna Ghosh Road are to the north. Eastern Railway line is to the east. Dum Dum Road is to the south. Barrackpore Trunk Road is to the west.[2][3]
The ward is served by Cossipore police station of Kolkata Police.[4]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Ward No. 2, Kolkata Municipal Corporation had a total population of 48,190, of which 24,381 (51%) were males and 23,809 (49%) were females. Population below 6 years was 2,575. The total number of literates in Ward No. 2 was 42,986 (94.24 % of the population over 6 years).[5]
