Aldercar High School is a comprehensive, mixed secondary school for ages 11–19, on Daltons Close in Aldercar, Derbyshire, England.[1]
It is close to the A610 and Langley Mill Junior School, and is next door to Aldercar Infants School.
Admissions
The school's catchment area includes the village of Aldercar, Langley Mill and Heanor. Many students attend from towns as far away as Ilkeston, Eastwood, Codnor and Ripley As of 2008, the school had around 800 students.As of 2011, the school had around 600 students.
History
It opened in September 1955 as a secondary modern school. It became Heanor Aldercar Comprehensive School, then Aldercar School. The school has been awarded specialist Language College status, and was named Aldercar Community Language College for a time before being renamed Aldercar High School.
In 2009, the new Phoenix Centre Sixth Form building opened, offering many courses for ages 16–19.
