Cardeto (Greek: Kardia) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Calabria in the Italian region Calabria, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) southwest of Catanzaro and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southeast of Reggio Calabria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,195 and an area of 36.3 square kilometres (14.0 sq mi).[1]
The municipality of Cardeto contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Pantano (Greek: Pandaros), Mannarella, Sant'Elia, Mallamaci (Greek: Mallamakioi), Cartalimi, Iriti (Greek: Iritos), Piraino, Colachecco, Loddini, Castanea (Greek: Kastanià), Chimputo, Ambele (Greek: Amvyla), Lamberta, Giurricando, Garcea, Calvario,Scranò, and Scala.
