Grande Fratello (season 9)

The ninth season of Grande Fratello began on January 12, 2009, and concluded on April 20, 2009. It is the ninth edition of the reality franchise Big Brother, hosted by Alessia Marcuzzi. The winner of the ninth season, Ferdi Berisa, received €300,000.

Housemates

Alberto

Alberto Scrivano was born on October 5, 1976, in Genoa, Italy. He is single and works in the Port of Genoa. He was stuck in a love square with fellow housemates Annachiara, Marco and Vanessa until Marco was evicted. Although he was seen as a favorite to win for most of the season, Alberto was evicted in the second to last eviction of the season.

Annachiara

Annachiara Simonetti was born on October 4, 1983, in Naples, Italy. She is single and works as a pharmacist. She had survived three eviction until Day 43, she was nominated against Vittorio and evicted from the house with 78% on her fourth time up for eviction.

Claudia

Claudia Perna was born on April 29, 1983, in Palermo, Italy. She isn't single and works as volunteer for a charitable organization. She was the 7th person to be evicted from the house.

Cristina

Cristina Del Basso was born on May 3, 1987, in Varese, Italy. She is single and studies at University of Pavia. She is the joint youngest housemate with Ferdi. She was one of the most popular HMs of the whole series and was voted through to the final by the public. In the final she landed 3rd place and the highest ranking female of the series.

Daniela

Daniela Martani was born on May 18, 1973, in Rome, Italy. She is single and works as a flight attendant for Compagnia Aerea Italiana/Alitalia. She is buddhist. She decided to walk on Day 22 after being told if she didn't, she may lose her job as a flight attendant.

Fabrizio

Fabrizio Cimmino was born on December 26, 1977, in Ivrea, Italy. He is single and works as butler and personal assistant of Marina, Princess of Naples. He was the first person to be evicted with 62% against Annachiara.

Ferdi

Ferdi Berisa was born on January 14, 1987, in Podgorica, Montenegro. He is single and works as assistant chef in a restaurant of Fano, Italy. He was voted through to the final by the public on Day 92. 21. April 2009 he was announced winner of 9th season of Grande Fratello which was seen as unexpected by some Grande Fratello fans.

Francesca

Francesca Fioretti was born on March 23, 1985, in Maddaloni. Italy. She is single and studies at university. She entered the house on day 50 with Roberto and Monica as a replacement for Paolo. On Day 92, Francesca was the 3rd housemate evicted on that day alone after a triple eviction, just missing out on the final and coming in 5th place.

Gianluca

Gianluca Zito was born on June 3, 1976, in Naples, Italy. He is single and works in his own company, based in Los Angeles, CA. He is often described as the "playboy" of the house. He was chosen on Day 92, the semi final by his fellow HMs to be the 1st guaranteed finalist. In the final he was voted 4th place by the public.

Jerry

Jerry Longo was born on July 26, 1977 in Locri, Italy. He is single and works for Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazione Civile. He is visually impaired and has developed a strong friendship with Siria. On Day 71, he became the 10th person to be evicted from the house with a Grande Fratello record breaking 88% of the public vote against Marcello.

Laura

Laura Drzewicka was born on June 3, 1986 in Hamburg, Germany. She comes from Poland, she is single and works as model. She entered the house as a replacement for Daniela. She was the 8th person to be evicted from the house.

Leonia

Leonia Coccia was born on January 1, 1986 in Rome, Italy. She isn't single and works as butcher. She participated in the Gran Hermano for a week as part of the casting process for Grande Fratello and after a public vote won the right to enter the house. She was the 2nd person to be evicted from the house.

Marcello

Marcello Torre Calabria was born on July 25, 1977, in Brescia, Italy. He is single and works as a baker. On Day 87, he was evicted by his fellow HMs but a vote opened and the public had to vote whether to make him go or keep him, the public kept him in. He has survived all 8 evictions he was up for, meaning he is tied with Victoria from GF3 as the most evictions survived by a housemate in the history of Grande Fratello, he was voted into the final by the public. After huge support from the public, he landed 2nd place.

Marco

Marco Mazzanti was born on June 8, 1985, in Copparo, Italy. He is single and study at University of Ferrara. He was the 3rd person evicted from the house.

Monica

Monica Riva was born on June 14, 1985, in Ascoli Piceno, Italy. She is single and studies at university. She entered the house on Day 50 with Francesca and Roberto as a replacement for Paolo. On Day 71 she became the 9th person to be evicted from the house with 71% against Cristina.

Nicola

Nicola Molinari was born on December 21, 1980, in Gavardo, Italy. He is single and works as an architect. Her formed a relationship with Federica. He was the 4th person to be evicted from the house with 55% of the 3 way vote, just 1 week after Federica was ejected from the house.

Paolo

Paolo Mari was born on December 21, 1973, in Mantua, Italy. He is single and has one daughter. He works as a plumber and also as a model. He entered the house on day 36 as a replacement for Federica. He was ejected a few days later, on 21 February, for bad and threatening behaviour towards his fellow housemates.

Roberto

Roberto Salvi was born on April 8, 1982, in Rome, Italy. He is single and works as a personal trainer. He entered the house on Day 50 with Francesca and Monica as a replacement for Paolo. He was evicted on Day 87 becoming the 13th person evicted.

Siria

Sabrina De Fazio, called Siria, was born on June 15, 1977 in Pomigliano d'Arco, Italy and is 31 years old. She is single and works as a circus performer. She is bisexual. She formed a strong friendship with Jerry, Alberto, Claudia, Federica, Annachiara, Roberto, Cristina, Vittorio. After she was evicted in the semifinal, presenter Alessia Marcuzzi stated that Siria was her favorite housemate.

Tommaso

Tommaso De Mottoni Y Palacios was born on June 5, 1978 in Trieste, Italy. He is single and is an entrepreneur. He entered the house on Day 36 as a replacement for Federica. On Day 50, he became the 6th person to be evicted from the house, he entered the studio audience to a mixed reception which were mostly boos, this is the 4th time in the shows history (2nd in this series) that someone receives boos.

Vanessa

Vanessa Ravizza was born on October 6, 1984, in Casorate Primo, Italy. She is single and works as barman in Milan, Italy. She had formed strong relationships and been with Alberto, Marco, and Gianluca in the house. She was the 12th person evicted, when her name was revealed, chants of "Fuori!" ("Out!") sounded from the studio audience. She was the fifth person to be welcomed by a booing crowd.

Vittorio

Vittorio Marcelli was born on June 10, 1971, in Rome, Italy. He is a single and works as professional windsurfer in Maui, HI. When he was younger he had a near death experience after a windsurfing incident in which he lost his best friend. He was the 11th person to be evicted from the house with 27% of the 7 way vote.

Notes:
^1 Jerry and Leonia were exempt as they were new Housemates.
^2 The public was voting for housemates they wanted to make immune from nominations, the ten housemates who received the most votes would be immune.
^3 As the housemate who received the most votes from the public Alberto was told he could give immunity to any housemate that did not already have it, he chose to give immunity to Vittorio.
^4 In round one of nominations housemates had to nominate one of the four housemates who did not have immunity.
^5 Daniela was awarded immunity by the producers as they considered her to be the best at the weekly task. Because of her immunity, she was not allowed to nominate.
^6 Since last week's nominations were voided Big brother decided to have Marcello nominate three housemates that would face eviction. From the three housemates Marcello chose to face eviction the other housemates would vote to save one of them.
^7 In round six of nominations all female housemates were immune from eviction.
^8 In round seven of nominations Cristina was given immunity by Big brother, Alberto was also given immunity via a public vote.
^9 In round eight of nominations Siria was given immunity by Big brother.
^10 In round nine of nominations Ferdi had to choose three housemates who would not be immune from eviction. He chose Alberto, Monica and Vittorio. The other housemates had to choose one of the three to face eviction.
^11 In round eleven of nominations all male housemates were initially nominated for evictions and all female housemate, who were exempt, had to vote to save one male housemate from eviction.
^12 In round eleven of nominations Gianluca was given immunity by Big brother.
^13 In round twelve of nominations Vanessa was given immunity by Big brother.
^14 In round fifteen of nominations all male housemates were initially nominated for evictions and all female housemate, who were exempt, had to vote to save one male housemate from eviction.
^15 In round seventeen of nominations all housemates were initially nominated for eviction however Big brother told the housemates that they could vote to save any housemate from nomination, the person who received the most votes would be safe.
^16 The immunity Gianluca had earned from the vote in round seventeen of nominations carried over into round eighteen.
