- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck offshore of Fiji 62 km (39 mi) northeast of the Ringgold Isles on April 17 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi).[42]
- A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck offshore of Taiwan 64 km (40 mi) southeast of Su'ao and 68 km (42 mi) southwest of Yonaguni, Japan on April 20 at a depth of 29.0 km (18.0 mi).[43][44] One person was killed in a house fire caused by the earthquake in the Hsinchuang District of New Taipei.[45]
- A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck offshore of Japan 72 km (45 mi) southwest of Yonakuni in the Yaeyama Islands on April 20 at a depth of 29.0 km (18.0 mi).[46] This was an aftershock of the 6.4 magnitude quake.
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck offshore of Japan 69 km (43 mi) southwest of Yonakuni in the Yaeyama Islands on April 20 at a depth of 29.0 km (18.0 mi).[47] This was an aftershock of the 6.4 magnitude quake.
- A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck offshore of the Solomon Islands 160 km (99 mi) south southeast of Lata on April 22 at a depth of 72.0 km (44.7 mi).[48]

- A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Papua New Guinea 130 km (81 mi) south southwest of Kokopo on May 5 at a depth of 55.0 km (34.2 mi).[63] A tsunami estimated at under 1 m (3 ft 3 in) was reported in Rabaul harbor.[64]
- A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck offshore of Papua New Guinea 143 km (89 mi) southwest of Panguna on May 7 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi).[65] This was a major aftershock of the 7.5 magnitude quake.
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck offshore of Japan 292 km (181 mi) southeast of Hachijo-jima in the Izu Islands on May 10 at a depth of 6.0 km (3.7 mi).[66]
- A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck Nepal 19 km (12 mi) southeast of Kodari on May 12 at a depth of 15.0 km (9.3 mi).[67] Nepalese authorities reported 153 dead, while 62 were killed in India, two in Bangladesh, and one in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.[1] This was a major aftershock of the 7.8 magnitude quake in April.

- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck offshore of Alaska, United States 99 km (62 mi) north northwest of Chirikof Island on May 29 at a depth of 72.6 km (45.1 mi).[78]
- A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck offshore of Japan 189 km (117 mi) west northwest of Chichi-jima in the Ogasawara Islands on May 30 at a depth of 664.0 km (412.6 mi).[79] The Associated Press agency reported "twelve people suffered minor injuries", and TEPCO claimed that 400 customers lost electricity in Saitama Prefecture.[80]
- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck offshore of Tonga 46 km (29 mi) east northeast of Hihifo on May 30 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi).[81] This was an aftershock of the 6.2 magnitude quake.

- A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Afghanistan 45 km (28 mi) east of Farkhar, Farkhar district, Takhar province on October 26 at a depth of 231.0 km (143.5 mi).[153] Destruction occurred mainly in Afghanistan and Pakistan on houses. At least 280 people were killed in Pakistan, 115 in Afghanistan and 4 in India, with more than 2,300 injured. The tremor was also strongly felt in India and Tajikistan, lighter in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. At least 14 people in Tajikistan suffered injuries.[2][154][155][156][157]

- A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck offshore of India's Nicobar Islands 128 km (80 mi) northwest of Sabang in the special region of Aceh, Indonesia on November 8 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi).[164]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck offshore of the United States 99 km (62 mi) southeast of Atka, Alaska on November 9 at a depth of 15.0 km (9.3 mi).[165]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck offshore of Chile 81 km (50 mi) northwest of Coquimbo on November 11 at a depth of 12.0 km (7.5 mi).[166] The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reported a 15 cm (5.9 in) tsunami at Coquimbo and a 10 cm (3.9 in) tsunami at Huasco in Atacama Region.[167]
- A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck offshore of Chile 84 km (52 mi) northwest of Coquimbo on November 11 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.2 mi).[168] This was an aftershock of the 6.9 magnitude quake.
- A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck offshore of Japan 140 km (87 mi) west southwest of Makurazaki, Kagoshima Prefecture on November 13 at a depth of 12.0 km (7.5 mi).[169] The Japan Meteorological Agency reported a 30 cm (12 in) tsunami at Nakanoshima island in Kagoshima Prefecture.[170]
- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Greece 10 km (6.2 mi) west southwest of Nidri on the island of Lefkada on November 17 at a depth of 11.0 km (6.8 mi).[171] Two women were killed in house collapses in Ponti and Athani on Lefkada; the quake also damaged the main road in the southwestern part of Lefkada and several buildings.[172]
- A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck the Solomon Islands 115 km (71 mi) southwest of Dadali on Santa Isabel Island on November 18 at a depth of 12.6 km (7.8 mi).[173]
